About the role
This position involves contacting patients to collect blood specimens, performing outpatient EKGs, verifying patient eligibility, instructing on specimen collection, sorting and transporting specimens, and providing clerical support.
Responsibilities
- Contacts inpatients and outpatients to collect blood specimens
- Performs outpatient EKGs
- Verifies patient eligibility and prepares specimens
- Instructs patients on specimen collection and handling
- Sorts and transports specimens
- Processes laboratory specimens for testing
- Provides clerical and receptionist service to the lab
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Completion of Phlebotomy Certification Course, Medical Assistant Program, or graduate of a nursing program
- Minimum of six (6) months phlebotomy experience
- Experience using a Laboratory Information System
