About the role
The Clinical Services Technician collects specimens on all age populations as assigned with minimal patient impact. They are responsible for the processing and allocation of laboratory specimens and orders from all sources. They verify proper patient and specimen identification, the appropriateness of specimens and accompanying orders. They organize laboratory work flow and prioritize processing and distribution of specimens. They utilize requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test requests, accession, correctly label and deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory sections within acceptable time frames. They perform specified procedures within the scope of established testing methods and responsibilities. They perform and document routine maintenance and quality control procedures on specified equipment and troubleshoot as needed. They train new employees in the theoretical and operational aspects of this position and serve as a resource for less experienced co-workers. They perform other duties as assigned.
