About the role
Join Team Tidelands and help people live better lives through better health! As a Phlebotomist, you will obtain and prepare specimens for analysis and perform various screening tests.
Responsibilities
- Performs order entry and medical necessity screening for Medicare patients.
- Performs specimen collection, including venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection, and culture receipt.
- Accessions specimens.
- Demonstrates proper infection control.
- Demonstrates proper patient identification.
- Performs proper and prompt specimen transport.
- Performs proper drug screen collection and processing.
- Answers lab phones and responds to questions.
- Participates in lab process improvement projects.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or relevant experience/education needed to obtain certification.
- Phlebotomy Technician Certification from American Medical Certification Association, American Society for Clinical Pathology, National Center for Competency Testing, or American Medical Technologist.
- Basic Life Support Certified from American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support Certified from American Heart Association recertification every two years.

- Experience working in the clinical setting preferred.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Interpersonal skills and compassion.
- Analyzing information, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures.
- Bedside manner.
- Attention to detail.
- Procedural and organizational skills.
