Phlebotomist

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures and finger sticks in accordance with written policies and procedures.
• Accurately identifies patients and properly labels and handles specimens.
• Determines and draws the proper collection tubes for tests requested.
• Maintains a safe working environment by strictly adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
• Aware of safety hazards and reports any unsafe conditions to the safety officer.
• Maintains the phlebotomy area clean and well stocked.
• Able to assist the medical technologist with a variety of tasks when applicable, such as answering the phone, balancing lab billing, ordering send out tests, coordinating patient care with the physicians and nurses, helping with blood product distribution, and assisting with bone marrow biopsies.

Specific Skills & Abilities

• Two years related work experience.
• Medical terminology extremely helpful.
