About the role
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The PSR II performs both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing, verifies patient demographic information, and maintains required records. Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Collect quality blood samples from patients, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Verify patient demographic information and ensure tubes are labeled correctly in the patient’s presence.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate openly with peers, supervisors, and patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic training) preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Commitment to all Policies & Procedures, including Company dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.
- Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including covering multiple locations with minimal notice.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred.
