About the role
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) represents the company to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The PSR I performs quality blood sample collection and specimen preparation for lab testing, demonstrating leadership behaviors, process excellence, and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
Under the direction of the area supervisor, the PSR I performs daily activities accurately and on time, maintains a safe and professional environment, and handles both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing. The role also involves maintaining required records and documentation while promoting a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Responsibilities
- Draw quality blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Prepare specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
- Explain procedures to patients to create trust and confidence.
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under supervision.
- Maintain a safe and professional work environment.
- Handle forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing with confidence.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive company image.
- Perform keyboard/data entry tasks efficiently.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience; one or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric experience.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Proficiency in keyboard/data entry.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM.
