Join our team as a rotating shift, PRN, Phlebotomist in Pryor, OK. Hillcrest Hospital Pryor is a 48-bed acute care hospital that provides a range of health care services to the community, including emergency services, urology, ENT, gastroenterology, cardiology, orthopedics, general surgery and wound care.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a laboratory professional who performs specimen collection techniques or specimen collection instructions that include venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction and specimen culture collection instruction
  • Promotes professionalism and interacts with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment
  • Ensure specimens are obtained in accordance with laboratory guidelines
  • Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider
  • Supports organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Attains required competency and demonstrates the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols
  • Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity
  • Follows proper protocols for specimen packaging and specimen transport
  • Responsible for specimen accessioning as assigned
  • Demonstrates proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport
  • Performs proper drug screen collection and processing as assigned
  • Answers laboratory department phone calls
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize emergent conditions and reacts appropriately
  • Provides phlebotomy services in a professional and patient centered manner
  • Engages in self-evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills
  • Retains accountability for quality of care given to the patient

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience
  • Certification from a nationally recognized agency. Accepted agencies and certifications include, but are not limited to:
    • National Healthcareer Association – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (NHA)
    • American Society for Clinical Pathology – Phlebotomy Technician: PBT (ASCP)
    • American Medical Technologists – Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT (AMT)
    • National Center for Competency Testing – National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT (NCCT)
    • American Certification Agency – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (ACA)
  • Experience working in the clinical setting
