Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Phlebotomist at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, you will be an integral part of a highly functioning laboratory team dedicated to providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing.

  • Collect blood samples and body fluids from patients for laboratory testing including blood cultures and arterial samples for blood gas analysis.
  • Register specimens and orders tests in LIS and prepare/label samples for internal or external testing.
  • Communicate lab test requests and results to appropriate staff, departments, and/or physicians.
  • Collect and document urine drug screens requiring chain of custody and breath alcohol when required.
  • Assist with in-services or training as assigned.
  • Assist with administrative duties within the laboratory.

Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy Certification required.
  • One year of phlebotomy experience or equivalent phlebotomy training program.
  • Excellent communication/people skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills and filing/clerical skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
