About the role
The Phlebotomist is responsible for the completion of the routine workload in the specimen collection, processing, and office areas according to established laboratory policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Completion of routine specimen collection and processing tasks.
- Adherence to established laboratory policies and procedures.
- Modification of approach to help clients feel less nervous during blood draws.
- Documentation of lab procedures and maintenance of logs and records.
- Use of electronic record and software systems.
- Communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Maintaining professional standards and adhering to CRS policies and ethics.
- Microsoft Office applications proficiency, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Organizational, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and attention to detail skills.
- Flexibility to perform other duties as needed.
- Ability to perform blood draws and other lab testing.
- Physical requirements include moving between locations, bending, lifting up to 15 pounds, and communicating clearly.
Requirements
- Certification specializing in phlebotomy from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
- 2 years of practical experience as a Phlebotomist as determined by the agency, or Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
- Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologist (AMT) preferred.
- Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.
- All issuing authorities accepted preferred.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
Qualifications
- Ability to learn and practice the seven commitments of the Sanctuary culture.
- Intermediate knowledge level of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and attention to details skills.
- Willingness to maintain professional standards and adhere to CRS policies and ethics.
- Flexibility to perform other duties as needed.
