Phlebotomist

Job Summary

As our Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in determining patient diagnoses and treatment by expertly performing blood collection and specimen processing, ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Expertly obtain and process blood specimens via capillary or venipuncture, ensuring integrity, proper disposal, and timely distribution to testing areas with special instructions.
• Prioritize patient comfort during blood work.
• Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
• Adhere to lab collection turnaround times.
• Positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions.
• Comply with isolation and hand sanitization procedures.
• Follow blood collection procedures, perform venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations.
• Utilize appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples and adhere to appropriate volume requirements.
• Perform Blood Bank collections and follow written collection and Blood Bank banding procedures.
• Demonstrate accuracy and good penmanship.
• Maintain order and cleanliness of phlebotomy trays, stations and storage rooms.

Requirements

• Required: High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or High School GED General Studies, upon hire
• Preferred: 3 months phlebotomy in an acute care facility
• Preferred: Phlebotomy Technician certification
• Required: Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days
