Job Summary
As our Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in determining patient diagnoses and treatment by expertly performing blood collection and specimen processing, ensuring the highest level of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Expertly obtain and process blood specimens via capillary or venipuncture, ensuring integrity, proper disposal, and timely distribution to testing areas with special instructions.
- Prioritize patient comfort during blood work.
- Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Adhere to lab collection turnaround times.
- Positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions.
- Comply with isolation and hand sanitization procedures.
- Follow blood collection procedures, perform venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Utilize appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples and adhere to appropriate volume requirements.
- Perform Blood Bank collections and follow written collection and Blood Bank banding procedures.
- Demonstrate accuracy and good penmanship.
- Maintain order and cleanliness of phlebotomy trays, stations and storage rooms.
Requirements
- Required: High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or High School GED General Studies, upon hire
- Preferred: 3 months phlebotomy in an acute care facility
- Preferred: Phlebotomy Technician certification
- Required: Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days
