About the role
The position involves assisting technologists and Specimen Acquisition Coordinator in venipuncture and capillary blood collections on inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients. It also includes assisting with clerical work.
Responsibilities
- Assists technologists and Specimen Acquisition Coordinator in venipuncture and capillary blood collections on inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients.
- Assists with clerical work as necessary.
- Performs work in a repetitive nature following standard procedures with little room for deviation.
- Exercises courtesy and tact while dealing with patients.
- Works under general supervision following a period of rigid on-the-job training and is checked by observation and quality control procedures.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care in the assigned department.
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
- Ability to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
- Comply with unit/area/departments' policies and procedures.
