Responsibilities
- Performs phlebotomy and processing of specimens to be sent to outside labs.
- Primarily assist in the phlebotomy room to draw blood.
- Restock the phlebotomy area as needed.
- Transport patients' blood and gold slips to the main lab area in a timely manner to be processed and centrifuged.
- Pour off urine specimens to be sent to reference labs.
- Pack up specimens with requisitions to send out labs.
- Aid 6th-floor lab technician as needed for assistance and backup.
- Clean and restock laboratory facility.
- Aid lab technicians as needed.
Qualifications
- Must be able to perform essential and non-essential duties satisfactorily.
- The individual must be able to multitask and have strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds.
- Excellent telephone skills and etiquette.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in phlebotomy of at least one or more years is preferred.
- Medical terminology is required.
- Language Skills: Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to effectively communicate with staff and clients.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Computer Skills: Must have knowledge of Medical Software and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. Strong PC skills and well-versed in using Internet applications.
Physical Demands
- Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting books and files of approximately 50 lbs. or less.
- Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer video monitor and/or operating a keyboard.
Pay
USD $18.00 - USD $22.00 /Hr.
