Job Title: Phlebotomist – Scottsdale North, East Central and South Job Description This phlebotomist role focuses on drawing blood and performing specimen processing in a physician office setting, serving patients with professionalism and compassion. You will handle the full lifecycle of biological specimens, from collection and data entry to preparation for analytical testing and distribution to the appropriate laboratory areas. The position includes responsibility for both pre- and post-analytical aspects of testing and may involve performing specified analytical tests as assigned, while consistently following established codes of conduct and laboratory standards. Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and other blood collection procedures accurately and safely for a diverse patient population, including individuals with cancer and patients who present difficult draws.Collect and receive biological specimens into the department, ensuring proper identification, labeling, and handling in accordance with established protocols.Enter patient and specimen information accurately into the laboratory computer system and verify data for completeness and correctness.Prepare specimens for analytical testing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and proper packaging for transport to the appropriate analytical areas.Distribute specimens to the correct laboratory sections or analytical departments in a timely and organized manner.Manage pre-analytical processes such as patient identification, order verification, and specimen collection timing to ensure accurate test results.Handle post-analytical tasks, including specimen storage, documentation, and follow-up on any issues related to specimen integrity or testing.Perform specified analytical tests as assigned, following standard operating procedures and quality control requirements.Work closely with physicians and medical assistants in a doctor’s office environment to coordinate patient flow and support high-quality patient care.Provide compassionate, patient-centered service, especially when working with cancer patients and individuals who may be anxious or difficult to draw.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, adhering to infection control, safety, and compliance guidelines.Follow all ethical and professional standards, including adherence to the organization’s Code of Conduct and laboratory policies.Collaborate as a supportive team member, communicating effectively with colleagues and contributing to a positive work culture. Essential Skills At least 1–2 years of phlebotomy experience, including experience with difficult draws and working with cancer patients.Proficiency in blood collection techniques, including venipuncture and specimen collection, with a high level of accuracy and patient comfort.Hands-on experience with specimen processing, including handling, labeling, and preparing samples for analytical testing.Ability to accurately enter and manage patient and specimen data in a laboratory or clinical computer system.Demonstrated skill in working in a laboratory or doctor’s office environment, collaborating closely with physicians and medical assistants.Strong team-oriented mindset with the ability to function as a reliable and supportive team player.High level of manual dexterity and precision, with a reputation for being an excellent “stick.”GED or high school diploma (HSD) required.Commitment to following established codes of conduct, safety procedures, and laboratory protocols.Ability to provide patient-centered care, including empathy and professionalism when working with patients undergoing cancer treatment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a physician office setting or outpatient clinic environment.Experience in patient care activities related to phlebotomy and laboratory services.Familiarity with pre- and post-analytical phases of laboratory testing and quality control practices.Interest in long-term career growth within a laboratory services environment, including advancement to higher-level phlebotomy roles.Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, physicians, medical assistants, and laboratory staff.Ability to adapt to varying patient volumes and maintain composure in a fast-paced clinical setting. Work Environment This role is based inside a doctor’s office, where you will serve as the phlebotomist drawing the physician’s patients and working closely with medical assistants. Openings are available in North, East Central, and South Scottsdale areas. The schedule runs Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with an 8-hour shift scheduled within that time frame. You will work with standard phlebotomy and laboratory equipment for blood collection and specimen processing, and you will operate within a clinical environment that emphasizes patient care, safety, and collaboration. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scottsdale, AZ. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.36/hr.
