About the role
The Clinical Services Technician collects pathology specimens at free standing Ambulatory Care Centers. Responsibilities include registration, processing, and allocation of laboratory specimens and orders from all sources. Duties also involve verification of patient/specimen identification, appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders, organizing workflow, and ensuring proper packaging for courier transport.
Responsibilities
- Verifies proper patient/specimen identification and appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders.
- Organizes laboratory workflow and prioritizes specimen processing and preparation for transport.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment, ensures proper supply levels, and manages fiscal responsibility.
- Utilizes equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test requests, accession specimens, correctly label, and package them for courier delivery to appropriate laboratories.
- Performs POCT and documents routine maintenance and quality control procedures on specified equipment, troubleshooting as needed.
- Manages patient wait times and expectations using available computer systems and clear communication.
- Acknowledges customers in a friendly and professional manner, actively listens, responds with empathy, and demonstrates pride in appearance and behavior.
- Updates knowledge, skills, and applies them appropriately.
- Maintains age-specific and other required competencies as needed.
- Works independently and as part of a team, with general and periodic reviews by supervisory staff.
Requirements
Licensure: Phlebotomy preferred.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
