Philanthropy Associate
About the role
The Philanthropy Associate plays a hands-on, supportive role on ACC’s Philanthropy team, assisting with a wide range of fundraising activities that support ACC’s mission to end animal homelessness in New York City.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and respond to general donor inquiries via email and phone, providing timely and professional responses.
- Prepare and mail donor acknowledgment letters, tribute and memorial cards, and other routine donor correspondence.
- Track and document in-kind donations and assist with appropriate acknowledgment and reporting.
- Enter actions, contact reports, and donor communications in Raiser’s Edge to support moves management processes.
- Support portfolio management for the Philanthropy team including tracking actions, preparing lists, updating records, and supporting follow-up.
- Aid with prospect research, including reviewing donor giving history, basic wealth indicators, and publicly available information to support donor engagement.
- Assist with drafting donor appeals and fundraising communications, in collaboration with the Philanthropy team.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in Raiser’s Edge, including biographical information, contact details, addresses, relationships, and communication preferences.
- Run routine and ad hoc reports to support the Philanthropy team.
- Assist with data hygiene efforts, including record updates, duplicate management, and coding accuracy (in coordination with the Manager, Philanthropy Operations).
- Provide support for gift processing and gift importing under the direction of the Manager, Philanthropy Operations, as needed.
- Assist the Philanthropy team with daily fundraising activities and provide support to team members as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1–2 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, nonprofit administration, or a related role required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, for donor reporting, correspondence, and data management.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with donors and community members.
Qualifications
- Fear Free certification within 30 days of hire.

Pay
Salary range: $45,000 - $60,000 annually.
Schedule
The working schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5:30PM with Saturday and Sunday off.
