About the role

The Philanthropic Advisor (PhAd) plays a crucial role in introducing and engaging the Eastern Oregon region with the work of Oregon Community Foundation (OCF). This position involves developing relationships with donors, nonprofit partners, and professional advisors, and advancing OCF's strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an innovative approach to attract and build relationships with donors and prospective donors, including potential nonprofit endowment partners, to educate them about charitable options and create donor-centered gift plans.
  • Create and manage stewardship plans to support a portfolio of existing donors, including those who have named OCF in their estate.
  • Partner with OCF colleagues to manage outreach budget, engage and manage the regional OCF board director, and recruit, orient, and steward Leadership Council members.
  • Engage with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and elected officials, and participate in statewide efforts to advance branch and department priorities.
  • Plan and lead events to support donor engagement and engage in special projects as assigned.
  • Document all contacts and engagement in the database as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Six or more years of experience with nonprofit organizations, development, fundraising, and/or planned giving.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • Understanding of planned giving opportunities, including life income gifts and bequests.
  • Familiarity with local philanthropy and the regional individual and business wealth.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills; public speaking skills; exceptional interpersonal skills; attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities; excellent analytical skills; confidentiality; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and project management software.
  • Cultural agility skills necessary to work effectively with diverse groups of individuals and communities; experience in equity, bridging, and belonging; ability to travel and meet with individuals and groups within the region as necessary; valid driver’s license.
