About the role
The function of this position is to work with Phenolic Treating Leadership and the team members on all aspects of treating, and troubleshooting through training and process improvements in Safety, Service, Yield, Waste, Uptime, Preventive Maintenance, and processes and procedures that will positively impact the Operational Effectiveness of the Phenolic Department. This will involve partnering with Engineering, Maintenance, R&D, Product Quality, and the Phenolic leadership.
Responsibilities
- Documented training of all Phenolic treating roles.
- Troubleshoot Phenolic treating issues and/or escalate to leadership.
- Recommend and evaluate processes for improvement.
- Recommend steps to eliminate waste of raw materials, people time, and equipment time.
- Establish PM and TPM processes.
- Willingly accept responsibility and be accountable for all process improvements and training.
- Assess progress, risk, plan next steps, along with any negative impacts to continuous improvement and openly convey this to the Leadership team.
- Manage inventory/coordinate with inventory team to close out WIP jobs.
- Manage Daily Cycle Counts.
- Weekend work as needed.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED
- 3+ years experience working in a Phenolic treating role
Skills
- Hands-on experience/knowledge of Phenolic Treating
- Able to train and explain the “WHY” of the importance of each step of the process
- Able to check Phenolic and Release Kraft Papers
- Able to run a Phenolic treater
- Able to perform the Phenolic wet end job at a high level
- Able to handle Kraft papers and Phenolic, Release, and Chemical resin professionally
- Able to operate and troubleshoot the Resin control units
- Ability to read and understand procedures and other controlled documents
- Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills
- Willing to learn the basic understanding of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work at a fast pace, handle multiple tasks, work with interruptions, prioritize workload, deal effectively with confidential information, and understand and implement written and verbal instructions

Physical Requirements: Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight of 50 - 100 pounds.
