PhD Research Fellows in Sociology

About the role

The University of Oslo seeks to appoint 1-2 PhD Research Fellows in Sociology within the Department of Sociology and Human Geography. The positions are for a period of three years without compulsory work or four years with 25% compulsory work (primarily teaching).

Responsibilities

• Pursue independent research under supervision, as outlined in the submitted project proposals.
• Contribute to the development of sociology at the department through participation in the Faculty of Social Sciences' organised research education programme (PhD programme).
• Complete a doctorate in sociology within the appointed period.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in sociology or equivalent.
• Average grades of A or B in the master’s degree.
• Experience in research work equivalent to at least half a year’s relevant scientific workload for applicants with a one-year master’s degree.

Qualifications

• Quality and relevance of the project proposal.
• Quality of the master’s thesis.
• Academic grades and personal prerequisites to carry out the project.

Skills

• Ability to contribute to the development of sociology at the department.
• Desire to participate actively in departmental life.

Pay

NOK551,000 to NOK594,000 or £41,922.28 to £45,193.90 (converted salary*) depending on competence and experience.
