Job Duties
- Assist customers at the pharmacy counter and drive thru, providing courteous and efficient service.
- Help customers locate over the counter products and route clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- Enter, update, and maintain accurate patient and prescription information in the pharmacy system.
- Ensure appropriate billing through third party payors and review and correct claims as necessary.
- Sure that every prescription has been checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.
- Locate prescription files and other manual records from storage as needed.
- Prepare and file pharmacy documentation for pharmacist signatures and review.
- Count, label, and prepare medications according to prescription orders and regulatory guidelines.
- Support non sterile compounding activities as permitted by state regulations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in ordering, receiving, and storing medication inventory.
- Monitor expiration dates and rotate stock.
- Perform return to stock procedures and cycle counting accurately.
- Report inventory shortages or discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain intermediate to advanced understanding of pharmacy tools, technology, and dispensing systems.
- Follow all state and federal regulations, including controlled substance and HIPAA requirements.
- Comply with all company operational and quality assurance policies.
- Aid in organizing and maintaining the will call area.
- Support patient care programs and initiatives.
- Demonstrate integrity and always protect patient confidentiality.
- Complete all required training within prescribed timelines.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe pharmacy work areas.
- Support team members and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or equivalent experience.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology and practices.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.
