About the role

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our inpatient pharmacy team. This role works directly with department pharmacists to maintain and improve pharmacy services for assigned areas. The successful candidate will work with the Automatic Dispensing Machine (ADM) system.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the setup, installation, and expansion of Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) MedStation systems.
  • Communicate the status of Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) product projects/activities/issues to pharmacy and nursing staffs.
  • Review reports of nursing activities and discrepancies and refer to pharmacist or nurse manager according to policy and procedure.
  • Participate in policy and procedure development and review of Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) MedStation system.
  • Assist in resolving Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) MedStation system issues as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage inventory of Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) MedStation systems and perpetual inventory system.
  • Review inventory levels in perpetual inventory system.
  • Review and adjust inventory max and min levels.
  • Review all Batch reports (e.g., Refill, Stock-out, All Station Events, Charges and Credits, Discrepancies, Overrides).
  • Facilitate and monitor pharmacy staff training (new and current staff).
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Certified by the Board of Pharmacy in the state of practice.
  • Pyxis Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical mathematics.
  • Working knowledge of sterile technique and demonstration of aseptic technique proficiency.
  • Working knowledge of safety guidelines for handling chemotherapy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Skills to operate standard pharmacy and office equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
