Avera Long Term Care Pharmacy Worker

About the role

This position offers a competitive pay range of $20.00 - $28.00 per hour, with a potential $4,000 sign-on bonus. It involves primarily day shifts with occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Accurately inputs and prepares labels and packages for inpatient and outpatient medication orders and prescriptions.
• Communicates with nursing staff, physicians, customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management to ensure efficient medication delivery.
• Demonstrates proficiency in medications, calculations, regulations, and personal protective equipment to promote patient safety.
• Performs clerical tasks such as billing, patient demographics, and pharmacy inventory to maintain an efficient medication distribution system.
• Assists with record collection and maintenance for the Pharmacy Department and relevant accreditation bodies.
• May assist customers on the phone or in person, run reports, and use automated dispensing systems.
• Conducts monthly inspections of medication stocks and assists with inventory management to prevent shortages or excesses.
• Assists with compounding practices, such as preparing botox and chemotherapy medications.

Requirements

• Registered Pharmacy Technician license in the state of practice within 30 days.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification from either the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Ability to work the specified hours.
• Visual acuity adequate for position duties.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.

Skills

• Proficient in medications, calculations, and regulations.
