Pharmacy Technician (Level II) - Outpatient Infusion Pharmacy

About the role

The Pharmacy Technician II, under general supervision of a pharmacist, performs technical tasks within the outpatient infusion pharmacy. Responsibilities may include medication preparation, compounding, dispensing, inventory control, unit dose prepackaging, and basic computer system operations. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in general and some specialty areas of pharmacy practice.

Responsibilities

• Fills and delivers/dispenses medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist (50%).
• Performs introductory technical tasks in specialty areas such as medication histories, sterile and non-sterile preparation, payer adjudication, call center, clinical pharmacy support, inventory management including controlled substance handling and accountability, and repackaging.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed (30%).
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately (20%).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• 1-3 years of work experience, with at least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a healthcare or retail setting required.
• CPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) required.
• PHAT-Licensed Pharmacy Technician (DORA) required.

Pay

$22.16 - $31.02 per hour.
