Pharmacy Technician (Inpatient)

Assist pharmacists in various support activities and procedures involved in dispensing medical prescriptions within an inpatient hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in dispensing medical prescriptions.
• Gather, input, and verify prescription, refill, and patient information.
• Receive and organize incoming supplies.
• Prepare labels and routine prepacked orders.
• Rotate through different stations such as register, filling, input, insurance/prior authorizations, and call center.
• Interact with a diverse patient population including transplant, sickle cell, pediatrics, internal medicine, and employee medications.
• Dispense compounds (no compounding required).

Requirements

• Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT).
• Pharmacy technician license and certificate (PTCB).
• 1-2 years of pharmacy technician experience.
• Inpatient and outpatient experience.
• Experience with inventory, data entry, insurance, and prior authorization processes.
• SC State license with Board of Pharmacy (BOP).
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Skills

• Experience in retail pharmacy is beneficial.
• Background in customer service or related fields is advantageous.
• Ability to take initiative and work diligently.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Work Environment

• Work in an inpatient pharmacy within a hospital setting as part of a team of 50, including pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy technicians.
• Fast-paced environment requiring technicians to be on their feet all day and comfortable interacting with patients face-to-face.

Schedule

• Shift hours include morning (7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.), evening (2 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), and midnight (8:45 p.m. - 7:15 a.m.).
• Availability required for some evening shifts and every other weekend.
• Rotating day and evening shifts.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00 per hour.
