Responsibilities
- Process medication and IV orders under the pharmacist’s supervision.
- Retrieve, package, label, compound sterile and non-sterile elements, deliver, and document orders.
- Procure pharmaceuticals and supplies.
- Code invoices.
- Restock drugs and supplies.
- Deliver medications to patient care areas and pick up orders and/or returned medications.
- Clean pharmacy drug and solution work and storage areas according to schedule.
- Check and remove outdated drugs and supplies based on policy and procedure.
- Answer the telephone, screen calls, and route to appropriate personnel.
- Greet clients and provide courteous, caring, and professional assistance.
- Perform monthly inventory checks and document temperatures for refrigerators, freezers, incubators, and take corrective action as needed.
- Complete and pass biannual Aseptic technique testing as outlined in policies and procedures in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- High School or Vocational School graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in retail or clinical pharmacy setting.
- Read, speak, and write fluent English and perform simple arithmetic computations.
- Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Licensure: Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Board of Pharmacy prior to commencement of work if already nationally certified, or registered as a technician trainee if not yet certified.
- Valid driver’s license with automobile insurance in accordance with state and/or organizational requirements.
- Mandatory Reporter: Child & Dependent Adult Abuse.
