Pharmacy Technician - Infusion

About the role

Work in a patient-centric environment as an integral part of a clinical team. This pharmacy technician role involves 8-hour shifts with no weekends and not standing the entire time, focused on caring for infusion patients.

Responsibilities

• Recognize patients' rights and responsibilities and support them in the performance of job duties; respect patients' rights to privacy and confidentiality
• Prepare, package, and distribute medications prescribed by physicians
• Continually maintain pharmacy area to ensure a clean, well-stocked condition
• Calibrate pumps daily for base solutions
• Accurately follow dispensing, processing, and shipping processes on a day-to-day basis
• Assist in calling and scheduling patient orders, insurance verification, and preparing work orders
• Accurately maintain all legally required records
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
• Participate in patient evaluations
• Assist the supervisor in training new staff and provide appropriate feedback as necessary
• Assist pharmacists, physicians, nursing, and clinical personnel with pharmacy services
• Maintain department facilities, equipment, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff
• Follow and assist in inventory control procedures
• Complete paperwork and computer-related duties
• Share knowledge gained with other staff members and work as a team member
• Interact with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent required
• Active Maryland Pharmacy technician license required
• Registration as pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician trainee with Texas State Board of Pharmacy required
• Completion of pharmacy technician training and certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Pharmacy Technician Association preferred, with certification to be completed within one year of employment
• Laboratory or healthcare experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must pass all relevant pharmacy competencies within the first 90 days of employment

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in the workplace
• Demonstrate extreme attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Basic computer proficiency
• Knowledge in the use of Microsoft applications
• Previous experience with CPR+ or Caretend software is a plus, along with home infusion experience, but not required
