What You'll Do
- Accurately prepare and dispense medications
- Assist pharmacists with daily operations
- Maintain medication inventory and records
- Provide knowledgeable, friendly support to patients and staff
What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree (required for validating duties), preferred.
- Experience: 2 years of Acute Care, required: Prior experience in a minimum of three pharmacy skills (examples may include but are not limited to the following activities: medication distribution, sterile compounding, medication listing, controlled substance accountability, highly privileged ADS, validating duties and/or procurement)...OR...hired as a Pharmacy Tech II Certified, have 2 years experience in acute care and now competently performing a third pharmacy skill as described above.
- 2 years of Outpatient Oncology, required: Prior experience in a minimum of three pharmacy skills (examples may include but are not limited to the following activities: medication distribution, sterile compounding, medication listing, controlled substance accountability, highly privileged ADS, and/or procurement)...OR...hired as a Pharmacy Tech II Certified, have 2 years experience in acute care or oncology setting, and now competently performing a third pharmacy skill as described above.
- Specialty Pharmacy: Minimum of two years of experience in specialty pharmacy setting, required.
- Licensure/Certification: Current registry with applicable State Board(s) of Pharmacy, required. PTCB or NHA Certification within 60 days of hire or proof of enrollment in pharmacy school (i.e., NCBOP pharmacy intern license or FPGEE/FPGEC).
- Additional Skills (required): State registration and/or evidence of renewal is required for Technicians fifteen days prior to expiration and Technicians are required to be either certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or be actively enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school with an active NCBOP pharmacy intern license, or be active in Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) or Foreign Equivalency Certification (FPGEC).
- Additional Skills (preferred): Considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration, and adverse effects; the ability to demonstrate patient interview skills and strong written and verbal communication skills with other healthcare professionals. Experience with inventory management.
