Basic Duties
- Preparing, filling and delivering medication orders for oncology patients under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
- Performing sterile compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous medications in compliance with USP and USP standards
- Aiding in the preparation of chemotherapy agents and other infusion therapies while following appropriate safety protocols
- Handling, labeling, and disposing of hazardous medications in accordance with regulatory and safety guidelines
- Demonstrating proficiency with equipment and software
What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred.
- Experience:
- Acute Care: Prior experience in a minimum of three pharmacy skills (examples may include but are not limited to the following activities: medication distribution, sterile compounding, medication listing, controlled substance accountability, highly privileged ADS, validating duties and/or procurement).
- Outpatient Oncology: Prior experience in a minimum of three pharmacy skills (examples may include but are not limited to the following activities: medication distribution, sterile compounding, medication listing, controlled substance accountability, highly privileged ADS, and/or procurement).
- Specialty Pharmacy: Minimum of two years of experience in specialty pharmacy setting required.
- Licensure/Certification: Current registry with applicable State Board(s) of Pharmacy, required. PTCB or NHA Certification within 60 days of hire or proof of enrollment in pharmacy school (i.e., NCBOP pharmacy intern license or FPGEE/FPGEC), required. A minimum of two relevant specialized certificates/certifications from approved vendors such as PTCB, BPTS or NPTA (examples include but are not limited to, product verification, medication history, hazardous drug management, billing/reimbursement, controlled substances diversion prevention, medication therapy management, sterile compounding) – required. Not applicable if currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy with an active NCBOP pharmacy intern license, required.
- Additional Skills: Considerable knowledge and application of basic math skills, including ratio and proportion relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic technology skills. Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team. Validating duties (NC only): must complete initial didactic and practical training prior to initial validation. Must obtain 99.7% accuracy rate on initial validation and 99% accuracy in subsequent audits.
