Essential Functions
- Assists pharmacists as directed, including filling orders and preparing labels.
- Prepares and makes deliveries to patient care areas and ancillary units.
- Replenishes medicine supply carts/automated dispensing devices; ensures that the pharmacy is stocked with essential drugs and pharmaceuticals.
- Compounds, labels, and packages pharmaceuticals.
- Counts, packages, and labels unit doses and fills routine orders for inspection by Pharmacists.
- Uses aseptic admixture technique in the horizontal or vertical laminar airflow hood as appropriate.
- Enters or retrieves data from established computer files.
- Maintains competencies as designated by Department of Pharmacy.
- For pharmacy techs in retail, processes patient charges for pharmaceuticals as required.
- Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values policies, and standards.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Experience: One (1) year of pharmacy technician experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
- Licensure or Certification: Valid Arizona driver’s license. Licensed by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician required. Heartsaver CPR (HSCPR or HSFACPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
