About the role
The Los Angeles LGBT Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to assist Pharmacists in performing pharmacy-related duties. This position reports to the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor and works a flexible schedule of Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday from 9:00am-6:00pm, and Saturday from 9:30am-6:00pm.
Responsibilities
- Remove drug or drugs from stock.
- Count, pour, or mix pharmaceuticals.
- Place product into container.
- Affix label or labels to container.
- Packaging and repackaging.
- Present prescriptions to pharmacist for review.
- Collect, enter, and update patient data into pharmacy management system for prescription and billing processing.
- Process prescriptions and ensure third-party adjudication process is complete.
- Interact with patients, external pharmacies, medical providers, other staff members, etc., in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
- Prepare and process prior authorization, treatment authorization requests, and other payment issues.
- Assist pharmacist in performing audit control functions such as reviewing drug usage records.
- Prepare prescription orders for mail order or delivery as required.
- Receive and store incoming supplies, count stock, and enter data into pharmacy management system according to Center procedure.
- Assist with the maintenance of all paperwork and filing as required.
- Assist with monthly inventory count as required.
- Help maintain a clean, orderly environment in the Pharmacy.
- Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, and other meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
- A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
- Two to three years’ experience in a high-pressure professional medical environment.
- Current California Pharmacy Technician License.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management and other software systems, knowledge of Pioneer Rx preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse genders, races, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment.
- Bilingual skills a plus (English/Spanish fluency preferred).

Pay
$28.00 per hour.
Schedule
Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday 9:00am-6:00pm, Saturday 9:30am-6:00pm.
