About the role

At HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital, we are committed to caring for patients with purpose and integrity. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will perform advanced and basic pharmacy technician functions accurately and in a timely manner. You may also be responsible for duties involving Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs) and other specialized tasks assigned by the pharmacy management team.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate relevant theoretical knowledge and apply known solutions to a variety of predictable problems.
  • Perform processes requiring well-developed skills, discretion, and judgment.
  • Interpret available information using discretion and judgment.
  • Maintain medication inventory, storage, and security per regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately prepare and maintain documentation logs, work records, and safety checks.
  • Interact with hospital personnel in person and by phone.
  • Perform basic billing functions and required calculations accurately.
  • Safely compound and label medications and parenteral admixtures.
  • Accurately package and prepare medications for dispensing.
  • Transport medications and pharmacy supplies in a timely manner to appropriate areas.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience required.
  • IV Certification required.
  • National Certification (CPhT) preferred.
  • Active Registered Pharmacy Technician, as per state requirements, in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • State Registration, Licensed Pharmacy Technician, or State License Pharmacy Intern.
