Pharmacy Technician I - Branson - Part Time

About the role

The Pharmacy Technician III assists pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications and are accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, compound, and dispense medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Accurately fill prescriptions and medication orders in a timely manner.
• Prepare sterile compounds, chemotherapy, and hazardous medications as appropriate.
• Enter and maintain patient and prescription information within EPIC and pharmacy systems.
• Deliver medications to patients, care areas, curbside locations, homes, or other designated locations when required.
• Conduct patient follow-up calls as appropriate.
• Assist with medication shipping and delivery preparation.
• Support medication retrieval, returns, and credits when applicable.
• Receive, stock, and maintain medication inventory and supplies.
• Ensure the security and proper storage of medications.
• Maintain clean, safe, and sanitized work areas and equipment.
• Operate pharmacy automation technology, robotic dispensing equipment, and automated dispensing cabinets.
• Troubleshoot pharmacy automation systems and associated software.
• Participate in medication-use evaluations and process improvement projects.
• Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, safety, and workflow.
• Train and orient new pharmacy technicians and coworkers.
• Attend departmental meetings, huddles, and educational sessions.
• Communicate effectively with pharmacists, providers, patients, and team members.
• Demonstrate professionalism and outstanding customer service in every interaction.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent pharmacy-related experience required.
• Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician registration with the State Board of Pharmacy in good standing or willingness to obtain registration by the first day of employment, including completion of FBI fingerprint background check requirements.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Advanced knowledge of pharmacy dispensing, prescription processing, and compounding procedures.
• Experience with pharmacy automation systems, workflow management tools, and electronic health records.
• Strong understanding of medication inventory control, ordering, adjudication, copay assistance, and financial assistance programs.
• Ability to interpret medical information, laboratory values, and patient-related data to support pharmacist decision-making.
• Strong troubleshooting skills related to pharmacy technology and software systems.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to train, mentor, and support new team members.
• Commitment to accuracy, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
