Overview

The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications and are accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician follows applicable standards and federal, state & local laws and regulations for the care and safety of the customers and patients served.

Qualifications

This is a career-ladder position. The level at which the successful candidate is hired will be determined based on education, certification/licensure, and relevant experience.

Pharmacy Technician I

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam
  • Experience: 1-year relevant pharmacy experience preferred but not required
  • Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check
  • Other: Successfully complete pharmacy department orientation

Pharmacy Technician II

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam
  • Experience: 1-year relevant pharmacy experience preferred, but not required
  • Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check
  • Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) (obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Other: Successfully complete pharmacy department orientation

Pharmacy Technician III

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam
  • Experience: 3 years hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent experience required
  • Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check
  • Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) (obtained within 6 months of hire)
