About the Role

To support pharmacists in all aspects of pharmacy activities. This includes maintaining automated dispensing machines (ADMs) stock levels, packaging and distributing drugs and sterile products, and dispensing controlled drugs with supervision of a pharmacist to anesthetists and for delivery to ADM machines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain automated dispensing machines (ADMs) stock levels by loading and refilling medications including narcotics for all in-patients
  • Answer telephones, assist nurses with troubleshooting ADM questions and drawer maintenance
  • Dispense controlled drugs with supervision of a pharmacist to anesthetists and for delivery to ADM machines
  • Prepare IV admixtures, solutions, and other sterile products, including chemotherapy
  • Inspect assigned nursing units for proper drug storage, stability, expiration dates, and maintaining proper drug reliability in the pharmacy

Requirements

  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of a hospital-based, community college, or military technician training program is preferable
  • National certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) — if not already obtained — is required within 1 year of date of hire
  • Current CT Pharmacy Technician state registration; or registration as a Pharmacy Intern and actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy program
  • Hospital or retail pharmacy experience preferred

Employment Details

Part-time, rotating shift.
