Position Summary
As a BMC Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will prepare and distribute medications, operate and monitor pharmacy automated technology systems, maintain inventory, perform quality assurance audits, provide customer service, and maintain pharmacy records. You will assist in training staff under the supervision and guidance of the Pharmacy Managers and Technician Supervisor, supporting the mission of delivering exceptional care for all.

Department: Inpatient Pharmacy
Schedule: Per Diem, Rotating every other weekend
Job Responsibilities
- Performs data entry tasks such as prescription transcription and entry, resolves third-party insurance claim issues, and contacts providers as appropriate for the pharmacist while maintaining customer/patient confidentiality.
- Prepares prescription orders in a timely manner; retrieves, counts, measures, and prepares medications, solutions, ointments, and other compounds as directed.
- Ensures all work is checked by a pharmacist.
- Supports the service needs of the pharmacist relative to pharmacy services and maximizes patient care outcomes.
- Communicates to pharmacists and/or pharmacy technician supervisor on malfunctioning equipment and unsafe working conditions.
Job Requirements
- Requires a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern with the MA Board of Pharmacy by the hire date (Pharmacy Interns are not required to hold CPhT certification).
- Must also have national certification from Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam of Certified Pharmacy Techs (exCPT), or within 6 months from start date.
- Pharmacy students who have completed 2 years of education in an approved college/school of pharmacy are eligible for pharmacy internship, and may be waived for the required experience.
- 6 months - 1 year of work experience preferred.
