Pharmacy Technician - Galveston (up to 19 hrs/wk)
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
- OR
- Registered as a Pharmacist Intern with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
- Preferred Education & Experience:
- ACPE approved IV (sterile products) certification preferred.
- Prepares unit-dose medications specific to patient needs including patient’s weight, allergies, and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Retrives and delivers medication orders and supplies.
- Prepares sterile products utilizing aseptic technique and USP 797 standards.
- Compounds bulk and extemporaneous pharmaceuticals specific to patients needs including weight and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) utilizing USP 795 standards.
- Demonstrates the ability to operate automated technology including compounding, repackaging, cartfill and Automated Drug Systems.
- Communicates effectively with other pharmacy employees, healthcare professionals, and patients while appropriately recognizing age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Maintains adequate drug inventories in pharmacy areas and patient care areas and notifies the appropriate personnel when shortages and/or outages are noted.
- Performs quality assurance/improvement audits.
- Maintains a neat clean and organized work area.
- Demonstrates flexibility in staffing assignments.
- Aids pharmacists in filling ambulatory prescriptions specific to patient needs including patient’s weight, allergies, and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Aids in record keeping activities in any assigned area.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Performs related duties as required.

- Able to spend most of the day standing, walking, or bending
- Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, pull, reach, push up to 50 lbs., and regularly and occasionally lift 0-30 lbs.
- Up to 19.99 hours per week
