About the role

The Pharmacy Technician position at AAMC is a full-time role, working Monday through Friday and rotating weekends. The position offers a 3K sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently prepares, packages, distributes, and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of AAMC Department of Pharmacy standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Delivers medications manually, via pneumatic tube, or refills automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Maintains medication storage environments and assists with unit inspections.
  • Complies with federal, state, and department policies regarding controlled substances, including Secure-Send function and self-audit reports.
  • Answers phone calls and responds to med messages professionally.
  • Maintains cleanroom environmental standards and demonstrates proficiency in sterile product compounding.
  • Generates and interprets reports from hospital information systems and participates in inventory management.
  • Supports emergency drug supply systems and specialty tray maintenance.
  • Trains new pharmacy staff and provides guidance on departmental initiatives.
  • Identifies and contributes to workplace improvements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Pharmacy experience in a hospital or retail setting preferred.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Board Certification (PTCB) preferred.
  • Current Maryland Board of Pharmacy registration as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern.
