About the role

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for completing tasks as delegated by the pharmacist in accordance with Florida law. Responsibilities include medication order entry, delivery, AcuDose operation, order check-in, filling stock requisitions, inventory management, ADT maintenance, computer/printer operation, pneumatic tube operation, and crediting returned medications.

Responsibilities

  • Fills stock requisitions and patient medication orders accurately.
  • Performs AcuDose operations (refills, returns, reports, etc.) without discrepancies or errors.
  • Accurately completes computer functions (Powerchart/PharmNet, print operation, charges/credits).
  • Completes assigned tasks in a reasonable time frame with optimal productivity.
  • Assists other pharmacy areas when requested by the Director or pharmacist on duty.
  • Accepts and completes additional assignments delegated by Pharmacy Management.
  • Relays appropriate information to callers or directs questions to a pharmacist.
  • Provides feedback on problems, complaints, and constructive suggestions.
  • Maintains working knowledge of automation systems (Robot, Connect RX, Med Carousel, NarcStation).
  • Compounds IV admixtures accurately using appropriate aseptic technique after successful competency completion.
  • Assists the pharmacy technician supervisor with training new staff after competencies are completed.

Requirements

  • One-year formal education or training beyond high school.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Good math and communication skills.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Florida.

Qualifications

  • Maintain National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
  • Maintaining national certification and IV competencies (cytotoxic and medium-risk compounding) qualifies for an hourly stipend payment.
