About the Role
Assists Pharmacists to fill and dispense prescriptions for customers. Provides counter service, retrieves prescriptions, and processes transactions. Orders and stocks drugs, supplies, and over-the-counter merchandise. Updates patient records and inventory, processes invoices, and performs accounting tasks using a computerized system. Delivers a high level of member service.
Responsibilities
- Assists customers at the counter, receives written prescriptions for Pharmacists, and retrieves filled prescriptions.
- Rings up orders, processes payments (cash, checks, credit/debit), and provides change.
- Assists Pharmacists in updating patient profiles and entering prescription information into the pharmacy computer, as allowable by State law.
- Preserves patient confidentiality.
- Answers phones, provides prompt and courteous member service, answers questions at pharmacy windows, and directs members to product locations.
- Assists Pharmacists in filling prescriptions by bringing stock bottles, counting, pouring, re-stocking, labeling, and pricing prescriptions under direct supervision.
- Prepares third-party insurance claims, to the extent allowable by State law.
- Processes invoices and makes accounting entries using a computerized system.
- Orders, receives, tags, and stocks prescription drugs and supplies, following product storage procedures and standards.
- Orders, receives, tags, and stocks over-the-counter products in accordance with merchandising plans.
- Creates product signs and maintains department cleanliness (sweeping, mopping, wiping, dusting, emptying trash).
- Operates a trash compactor and cardboard baler.
- Follows security and safety procedures, including proper storage/disposal of confidential documents and hazardous materials (e.g., immunization supplies, hazardous waste).
- Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Operates vehicles, equipment, or machinery as required.
- Assists with department duties and in other warehouse departments as necessary.
