Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacist in filling prescriptions and performing day-to-day pharmacy operations.
- Type labels, quote prices, write receipts, count and pour medications, and record prescription information from clients.
- Perform clerical functions: pricing prescriptions, ordering and checking in merchandise, price changes, inventory monitoring, printing and adding daily Rx logs, copying reports, and distributing to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain pharmacy shelves, fixtures, and medication bottles in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
- Ensure pharmacy is well-stocked with child-resistant vials and bottles for dispensing.
- Handle cash payments (cash, check, credit cards) and issue receipts.
- Charge prescription prices to appropriate programs or third-party payers.
- Abide by infection control policies and procedures as outlined in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual.
- Follow State Board of Pharmacy policies and procedures; renew TSBP and PTCB licenses prior to expiration.
- Adhere to hazardous materials guidelines as dictated in the Employee Safety Handbook.
- Participate in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program.
- Follow all safety policies as outlined in the Employee Safety Manual.
- Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred; formal training as a Pharmacy Technician plus Certification (State Board of Pharmacy).
- Certifications: CPR Certification.
- Other: Computer experience, strong communication skills, excellent customer service techniques, and bilingual ability.
