Pharmacy Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain information to help fill prescriptions.
• Count medications and measure out amounts to ensure customers get exactly what has been prescribed by their doctors.
• Mix and prepare medications.
• Pack and label prescriptions for customers, ensuring correct dosage information.
• Process retail transactions and handle money.
• Process insurance claims as part of filling a prescription.
• Understand and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Perform accurate cash management/transaction procedures or refer customers appropriately.
• Participate in pharmacy quality improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
• Able to read and understand the English language.
• Able to effectively maintain confidentiality of records and communicate with all levels of personnel.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management staff, and external customers.
• Able to work with multiple changing priorities.
• Requires excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Able to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority.
• Able to function as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• At least one year of retail pharmacy experience.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Have excellent organizational skills.
• Familiarity with pharmacy software programs necessary to execute daily tasks.
• Prior FQHC or public health experience preferred.
