Key Responsibilities
- Obtain information to help fill prescriptions.
- Count medications and measure out amounts to ensure customers get exactly what has been prescribed by their doctors.
- Mix and prepare medications.
- Pack and label prescriptions for customers, ensuring correct dosage information.
- Process retail transactions and handle money.
- Process insurance claims as part of filling a prescription.
- Understand and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform accurate cash management/transaction procedures or refer customers appropriately.
- Participate in pharmacy quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
- Able to read and understand the English language.
- Able to effectively maintain confidentiality of records and communicate with all levels of personnel.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management staff, and external customers.
- Able to work with multiple changing priorities.
- Requires excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Able to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority.
- Able to function as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- At least one year of retail pharmacy experience.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Have excellent organizational skills.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software programs necessary to execute daily tasks.
- Prior FQHC or public health experience preferred.
