Responsibilities
- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
- Execute pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Create heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone
- Demonstrate compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems
- Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership, including putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories
- Embrace a growth mindset, remain receptive to feedback, and actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to stores in the market to work shifts as needed
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
- Comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled substance compliance, and patient privacy and security
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification
Immunization Support (where permissible)
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status
- Prepare and administer vaccines under compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report adverse reaction events per public health requirements
- Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
Requirements
- Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification
- If the state board of pharmacy does not mandate a minimum age, must be at least 16 years of age
- If the state board of pharmacy does not mandate a minimum educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program
- State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state
Essential Functions

- Communication Skills: Use and understand verbal and written communication; utilize active listening by giving full attention, asking questions, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Mathematical Reasoning: Use math to solve problems such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense, day’s supply, and/or number of full bottles and additional bottles needed to fill a prescription
- Problem Resolution: Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options
- Physical Demands: Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; move fingers repetitively; extend hand(s) and arm(s) in multiple directions; control precision; stoop to a considerable degree; close visual acuity for transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and visual inspection involving small parts
- Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and/or exert up to 20 lbs. of force; frequently lift up to 10 lbs and/or exert up to 10 lbs. of force; consistently lift and/or exert a negligible amount of force to move objects
- Express or exchange ideas by spoken word where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs
Pay
The Typical Pay Range for this role is $17.00 – $17.00. The actual base salary offer will depend on experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
