Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Receive and process written, electronic, or faxed prescription orders and verify that information is complete and accurate.
- Accurately retrieve demographic, insurance, medication allergy and CHN program eligibility information from Community Health Net's Electronic Health Record (EHR) as needed.
- Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
- Fill bottles/vials with prescribed medications and affix labels.
- Under the guidance of a Registered Pharmacist, reconstitute pharmaceutical products according to written prescriptions.
- File and retrieve hard-copy prescriptions that have been processed.
- Clean and help maintain equipment and work areas.
- Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients.
- Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages as directed.
- Answer telephones and respond to questions or requests.
- Operate cash registers to accept payment from customers.
- Assist customers by answering simple questions, locating items or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information or counseling.
- Perform other job-related duties as directed.
Qualifications/Requirements
- GED or high school diploma and at least two years related experience required.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
- Ability to use computers and Windows based software to enter data and develop reports as needed.
- Must be responsible, precise, and organized.
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology required.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays based upon operational need.
