Scripps Mercy Hospital has served central and downtown San Diego since 1890 and is the oldest medical center in the county. The San Diego campus is located near the corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street in Hillcrest. Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista. The San Diego campus includes the O’Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery, and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).

About the role

This is a full-time (80 hours every two weeks), benefited position working 8-hour day shifts between 7am and 7pm, Monday through Friday at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego. You may occasionally be asked to cover shifts at Mercy Chula Vista.

Join the Scripps Pharmacy team, which has four convenient locations on the campuses of Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas, and Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego. The pharmacies provide new and refill prescriptions, specialty medications, and can transfer existing prescriptions from inpatient pharmacies to our three Scripps Pharmacy locations. Our team offers immunizations and consultations on medication use and over-the-counter products.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pharmacy technician duties under the supervision of registered pharmacists.
  • Provide support for the safe management, processing, distribution, authorization, billing, receiving, stocking, and packaging of prescriptions, medications, and over-the-counter products.
  • Process refill authorizations, prior authorizations, and obtain patient medication history.
  • Process and bill prescriptions, contact insurance for patient coverage and prior authorizations.
  • Pull, fill, mix, and label medications; receive, stock, and manage medication inventory.
  • Complete sales transactions for prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.
  • Assist in the Meds-to-Beds service by delivering prescriptions to patients' bedsides in the hospital.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current California Board of Pharmacy Technician License.

Qualifications

  • National Pharmacy Tech Certification (preferred).
  • At least 2 years of retail pharmacy experience (preferred).

Pay

$28.88–$39.71/hour.
