Pharmacy Technician - Acute Care
About the role
Evening Shift Acute care pharmacy technicians work within the hospital setting to support patient care and medication needs for admitted patients. In this setting, pharmacy technicians will learn to prepare, dispense, deliver, and triage medications to support the medication distribution workflow. Team members are trained in core competencies with the opportunity for advanced training and professional development. Technicians have opportunity to become highly skilled pharmacy professionals and develop experience in controlled substances, inventory management, compounding sterile and nonsterile preparations, and more.
Maine Medical Center Portland has 744 licensed hospital beds caring for a wide range of patient populations including adult, cardiology, critical care, emergency medicine, pediatric, perioperative, oncology; many of which with dedicated and specialized pharmacy team members supporting these clinical services. The Acute Care Pharmacy department has over 150 pharmacist and pharmacy technicians working to provide excellent patient care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, dispense, deliver, and triage medications to support the medication distribution workflow
- Develop experience in controlled substances, inventory management, compounding sterile and nonsterile preparations, and more
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- License/Certifications: Current or eligible for applicable state(s) license as a Pharmacy Technician
- Experience: None required
- Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Proficient computer skills
Pay
$20.68 to $25.10 per hour. For a limited time, Maine Medical Center is offering up to $3,000 Sign on bonus for all eligible Pharmacy Technicians (bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible; eligible candidates are hired into a Full or Part time Pharmacy Technician position).
