Pharmacy Technician - Acute Care

About the role

Pharmacy technicians play a crucial role in the pharmacy team, handling tasks such as processing medications, interacting with healthcare team members, managing inventory, compounding medications, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

• Process medications and assist healthcare team members
• Inventory control and management of supplies and equipment
• Non-sterile and/or sterile compounding
• Automation system management
• Other duties as assigned by the pharmacist and pharmacy leadership

Requirements

• If working in MN: Previous experience as a pharmacy technician, completion of a board-approved technician training program, or completion of Essentia Health’s technician training program within one year of hire.
• If working in ND: Completion of an ASHP accredited academic program or enrollment in an ASHP accredited on-the-job training program within 24 months of hire.
• Minimum of 1040 hours of pharmacy technician experience.
• Completion of Essentia Health’s and Pharmacy Department’s orientation requirements.
• Completion of Pharmacy Department’s Core Sterile Compounding Training Program.

Qualifications

• If internal transfer: Completion of Pharmacy Department’s Core Sterile Compounding Training Program within 6 months of date of hire.
• If external hire: Experience with sterile compounding or completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Program.

Licenses/Certifications

• Earn Certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) within 2 years of hire.
• Maintain registration(s) and certification(s) for the duration of employment.
• For North Dakota locations only, progress toward acceptance into a Doctor of Pharmacy program.

Compensation

$21.08 - $31.62 / hour FTE: 0.8
