About the role

This position involves collecting, inputting, and verifying prescription, refill, and patient information, maintaining patient records, filling orders, preparing labels, implementing inventory control procedures, and anticipating medication dispensing needs.

Responsibilities

• Fills orders and prepares labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
• Implements inventory control procedures and ordering supplies within regulatory guidelines.
• Anticipates pharmacy medication dispensing needs.
• Responsible for hazardous, specialized, or advanced level compounding, which may include chemotherapy, epidural, ophthalmology, CADD pumps, and TPNs.
• Serves as a Pharmacy Technician Coordinator, as needed.
• May be cross-trained in major department roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.
• Participates in a temporary taskforce/short-term committee.
• Solves problems related to prescription inquiries.
• Performs the preceptor role in the training of students and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians.
• Serves as a mentor or role model.
• Stays abreast of advanced knowledge and proficient practice in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution to floors, pre-packing, and any other pharmacy technician duties.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Requirements

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience.
• Certification and Licensing: Valid State of Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician license required.
