Essential Job Responsibilities
- Processing of erectile dysfunction drugs (Sildenafil, Tadalafil)
- Cash transactions
- Processing Oncolytic drugs (paid by insurance)
- Running insurance claims for payment
- Foundation patient enrollment
- Balance and re-enrollment management
- Taking monthly refills
- Taking payments for refills/new rx, posting, and creating claims in EMR for all drugs
- Preparing drugs for pick-up
- Submitting medication orders onto an outside pharmacy's website: Compounds
- Taking payments, posting payments, and claim creation for these drugs
- Keeping inventory for drugs
- Ordering Drugs as needed
- Scheduling patients that need necessary annual follow-ups for rx renewals
- Performing any other clerical tasks as assigned by the pharmacy manager
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Pharmacy technician certification from an accredited medical vocational course required
- Licenses: Active Virginia Pharmacy Tech license
- Experience: Minimum one year of pharmacy technician in a pharmacy setting
- Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures, knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation, knowledge of basic arithmetic, knowledge of pharmacy technician tasks, familiarity with healthcare systems, regulations, policies, and functions, knowledge of infection control and safety standards
Performance Requirements
- Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures, knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type from draft copy and review and edit reports and correspondence, knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately, knowledge of pharmacy technician tasks that include processing prescriptions, labeling medications, running insurance claims for payment, familiarity with healthcare systems, regulations, policies, and functions, knowledge of infection control and safety standards

Abilities
- Ability to type 60 words per minute using word-processing software
- Ability to learn/use other computer programs including Microsoft® Excel, e-mail, Internet, and Microsoft® PowerPoint

- Ability to sort and file materials correctly using alphabetic or numeric systems
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians and other clinical staff, and the public
