About the role
The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician Specialist is responsible for specialty areas including Low, Medium, and High Risk Compounded Sterile Products (CSP), Oncology Products, Technician Training, IV Order Entry, Supply Room Maintenance, Outpatient Study, Controlled Substance and Infusion Pump Tracking, and Specialty Pharmacy areas.
In conjunction with the Outpatient Pharmacy Manager, Infusion Supervisor, and Clinical Specialty Pharmacist, this role oversees training, program development, procedure writing, and continual analysis of current processes. These areas involve handling expensive items, automated technology, and rigid quality control, requiring interpretation, problem-solving, precise manufacturing, accurate record-keeping, and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee specialty areas such as Low, Medium, and High Risk CSP, Oncology Products, and Specialty Pharmacy.
- Develop and implement training programs for pharmacy technicians.
- Write and update procedures for specialty areas.
- Analyze and improve current processes to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Ensure rigid quality control in handling expensive items and automated technology.
- Collaborate with the Outpatient Pharmacy Manager, Infusion Supervisor, and Clinical Specialty Pharmacist.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- One year of post-high school education or related work experience.
- Self-study or formal Technician Training to achieve National Certification.
- Maintain Pharmacy Technician Registration/License with the State of Vermont Board of Pharmacy and National Certification.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience as a Senior Pharmacy Technician preferred.
- Demonstrated competence in all areas of Pharmacy Technician Trainee, Pharmacy Technician Certified, and Senior Pharmacy Technician roles.
