About the role
The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician is certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Responsibilities
- Works under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist.
- Performs duties that do not require the professional training and judgment of a pharmacist.
- Has specialized knowledge in pharmaceutical nomenclature, medical terminology, and mathematical calculations involving dilution of concentrates, weights and measures, and ratios.
- Validates skills in aseptic compounding of intravenous medications using competency-based training and frequent quality control audits.
- Consistently builds on prior knowledge gained from performance as a Pharmacy Assistant and National Certification requirements.
- Maintains good business practices to ensure the success of the company within the mission of Fletcher Allen Health Care.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED plus one year of post high school education or relevant work experience.
- Candidate must possess and maintain active status as a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience: One year minimum retail pharmacy within the past 5 years, one year minimum experience in a health system pharmacy.
- Equivalent alternate pharmacy experience is acceptable.
