Overview

Responsibilities
- Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
- Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
- Contributes to effective and quality operation of the department.
- Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation; files documentation; answers telephone and pneumatic tube; and handles cash transactions.
- Processes medication charges and credits according to established policy.
- Participates in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.
- Supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
- Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of high school education or equivalent.
- Licenses/ Certifications/ Registrations: Active Oregon Board of Pharmacy Technician license in good standing.
- Experience: No prior experience required. Retail or hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Auditory ability to detect and respond to various sounds, including patient alarms and verbal communication.
- Clear and effective communication.
- Visual acuity for observing patient conditions, reading documentation and monitors, and distinguishing colors for clinical purposes.
- Tactile perception for assessing physical characteristics such as temperature, size, shape, or texture during patient care.
- Motor coordination for reaching, grasping, handling, and performing fine motor tasks necessary for the use of medical equipment and procedures.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds independently and involve frequent pushing, pulling, carrying, or repositioning of objects or patients weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling when assisting patients or accessing equipment.
- Walking and standing are typically continuous throughout the shift.
- May to sit for long periods of time.
